Prayer – September 23

The cross & resurrection are transformative events in human history. Pray that these realities will continue to be proclaimed and lived out and that people of every nation (people group) would respond.

Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures. He told them, “This is what is written: The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, and repentance for the forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things.”
Luke 24:45-48

Prayer – September 22

Serving God is our response to his forgiveness. Praise God for his forgiveness and that all would know and experience forgiveness.

If you, Lord, kept a record of sins, Lord, who could stand?
But with you there is forgiveness, so that we can, with reverence, serve you.
Psalm 130:3-4

Prayer – September 21

There is an interplay between knowing God’s forgiveness and forgiving others. Pray that we would be a people who forgive because we have been forgiven and who can experience forgiveness.

Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.
Luke 6:37

For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.
Matthew 6:14-15

giving

Thank you for your faithfulness in giving. You can find all the ways to give here.

benediction

Lord, at times you call us to step ahead of others, like those priests stepping into the River Jordan.
You ask us to pave a way with our own footsteps, to move with you, in your way, in your time.
Help us to know that you tread the path with us, and though we may be fearful and our steps may be reluctant and faltering, it is enough that we take one step at a time.
So, Lord, we commit this week to you, and the places we will go, trusting that you go beside us each day, wherever we may find ourselves.

In Jesus’ name,
Amen.

Prayer – September 20

When Christ forgives us and cleanses us of sin, God no longer remembers our rebellious ways. Pray that followers of Jesus will recognize who they are in Christ and walk forward in obedience and newness of life.

Do not remember the sins of my youth and my rebellious ways;
according to your love remember me,
for you, Lord, are good.
Psalm 25:7

We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.
Romans 6:4

Prayer – September 19

James reminds us that “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” Pray that followers of Jesus will actively praise God for His goodness, and unbelievers will recognize that all good things come from God.

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.
James 1:17

Prayer – September 18

We have many reasons to rejoice in God’s goodness. Pray for followers of Jesus to have a deeper awareness of God’s presence, and for God’s glory to come on His people so they may rejoice in His goodness

“Now arise, Lord God, and come to your resting place, you and the ark of your might.
May your priests, Lord God, be clothed with salvation, may your faithful people rejoice in your goodness.
Lord God, do not reject your anointed one.
Remember the great love promised to David your servant.”

When Solomon finished praying, fire came down from heaven and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices, and the glory of the Lord filled the temple. The priests could not enter the temple of the Lord because the glory of the Lord filled it. When all the Israelites saw the fire coming down and the glory of the Lord above the temple, they knelt on the pavement with their faces to the ground, and they worshiped and gave thanks to the Lord, saying,

“He is good; his love endures forever.”
2 Chronicles 6:41–7:3

Prayer – September 17

Scripture says that God withholds nothing good from those who walk blamelessly. Pray that as God’s children we (as individuals and as the church) would live lives pleasing to God because he has called us to be holy as He is holy.

For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor;
no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless.
Psalm 84:11

for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”
1 Peter 1:16
