Praying for our City – March 19

Pray that followers of Jesus in our city will consistently model seeking the Lord in all things and that younger generations will find strength and hope in the Lord as they too become committed to seeking Him

From one man he made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands. God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us. (Acts 17:26-27).

Praying for our City – March 18

Pray that God will give our leadership team and partners a fresh vision of genuinely becoming a praying church

“It is written,” he said to them, “‘My house will be called a house of prayer,’ but you are making it ‘a den of robbers.’”(Matthew 21:13).

Praying for our City – March 17

God is always looking for righteous intercessors who are willing to stand in the gap on behalf of their cities and their nation. Pray that more and more committed intercessors will arise from the churches of Orillia.

“I looked for someone among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found no one.” (Ezekiel 22:30).

Praying for our City – March 16

Pray for fathers in our city to know and follow Jesus, modeling a love for their wives and children that reflects the type of love Jesus has for the church.

Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her (Ephesians 5:25).

Praying for our City – March 15

Pray that followers of Jesus throughout Orillia and area will seek first God’s kingdom and his righteousness before in all things.

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. (Matthew 6:33).

March 14 – Philippians 4:8-9 – Think – Do

welcome

What do you think about?

As we re-gather, Paul reminds us to think about those things that are… true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, and praiseworthy.

It is so easy to get sucked into the criticisms, complaining, sarcasm, and apathy that seems to be the default of much of our world.

As followers of Jesus, we are called to be and live differently in this world.
As followers of Jesus, we are called to live lives that are empowered by God’s Spirit and so show what the Jesus life is like.

We encourage you to take a few moments as you prepare to watch the video

  • settle in, be still,
  • take 2 or 3 deep breaths… in and out breathe,
  • invite the Lord to make himself present with you as you watch – he is with you – it’s just that often we are not aware that he is,
  • prepare your heart to listen and receive.
  • Read Philippians 4 as you enter into our time together.

giving

In this new way of being the church, we don’t practice giving by placing our offering in a basket as it is passed. OCCers are generous people. Thank you for your gifts.

  • Some of you give when you attend a service (there is an offering box)
  • Many give online – etransfer or paypal
  • Others mail or drop off cheques

You can find all the ways you can give here.

Praying for our City – March 14

Instead of becoming anxious in the midst of life’s pressures, pray that OCCers will continue to learn and to practice casting their cares on the Lord.

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. (Philippians 4:6)

Praying for our City – March 13

Pray that God’s holy presence will be deeply experienced as the churches in Orillia and the area begin to, or plan to re-gather for worship

and the priests could not perform their service because of the cloud, for the glory of the Lord filled the temple of God (2 Chronicles 5:14).

Praying for our City – March 12

As we pray for Orillia, we remember that just as Daniel humbled himself as he confessed the sins of the Hebrew nation, pray that God’s people will assume responsibility for the moral and spiritual erosion in our nation and will then lead their communities in repentance.
(Daniel 9)

Praying for our City – March 11

This month we are praying for our city.

When [Jesus] approached Jerusalem, He saw the city and wept over it, saying, “If you had known in this day, even you, the things which make for peace! But now they have been hidden from your eyes” (Luke 19:41-42 NASB).

As this pandemic drags on and impacts our economy and health, pray that people will see the reminders of God’s mercy.

But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, (Titus 3:4-6).
