Since God gives much grace to those who have humble hearts, pray that we will lay down our selfish pride and every self-exalting attitude that stands in opposition to our developing humility and the mind of Christ But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.” James 4:6, quoting Proverbs 3:34

People with proud hearts are often tempted to lie in order to cover up personal failures. Pray that our OCC family will have humble hearts and will not lie to each other, since we have “taken off the old self with its practices”. Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices.  Colossians 3:9

welcome We continue to meet on-line only, and will for at least for the next 2 weeks. In this confusing, wearying time, when we are not sure what day it is, we know that in the midst of all this, God is with us. We remember that no matter what people say, no matter what people post on social media... as followers of Jesus, we are called to be different

Jesus said it’s the things that come out of our hearts—evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, slanders—that defile us. Pray that as we submit ourselves to Him, we will experience a heart change that eliminates these sins from our lives. For out of the heart come evil thoughts—murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander. Matthew 15:19

Knowing in our hearts that our salvation has been bought at a very great price, pray that we will glorify God with our bodies and with everything we do and say. You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies. 1 Corinthians 6:19b-20

As Christians, we celebrate Christmas and Easter. Many mark the season of Advent (leading up to Christmas), and Lent (leading up to Easter). We often take care to note the week beginning with Palm Sunday – Maundy Thursday – Good Friday – Easter Sunday. Birth – Death (cross) – Resurrection. This is all good. But there is another event in the life of Jesus that we evangelicals usually skip over.
