Praying for our City – March 25

This month we are praying for our city.

When he approached Jerusalem, Jesus saw the city and wept over it, saying, “If you had known in this day, even you, the things which make for peace! But now they have been hidden from your eyes” (Luke 19:41-42 NASB).

Pray that the followers of Jesus in our city will see sin like God sees it and will refuse to accept any type of moral stance (both personal and corporate or systemic) that is contrary to the clear teachings of God’s Word.

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

Praying for our City – March 24

This month we are praying for our city.

When he approached Jerusalem, Jesus saw the city and wept over it, saying, “If you had known in this day, even you, the things which make for peace! But now they have been hidden from your eyes” (Luke 19:41-42 NASB).

Pray that every follower of Jesus in all of the churches in our city will acknowledge the importance of knowing and applying God’s Word in their daily lives.

How can a young person stay on the path of purity?
By living according to your word.
I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands.
I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you. (Psalm 119:9-11).

Praying for our City – March 23

This month we are praying for our city.

When he approached Jerusalem, Jesus saw the city and wept over it, saying, “If you had known in this day, even you, the things which make for peace! But now they have been hidden from your eyes” (Luke 19:41-42 NASB).

In many churches and communities, the fear of what others think is a major influence in the decisions being made. Pray that in our city, Christians will have a healthy, biblical fear of God and will continually seek His heart regarding direction and decisions

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction. (Proverbs 1:7)

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight. (Proverbs 9:10)

Praying for our City – March 22

Pray that followers of Jesus in Orillia and area will leave behind attitudes of self-sufficiency and will acknowledge their tremendously desperate need for God

“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing (John 15:5).

March 21 – Philippians 4:10-13 – contentment

welcome

As followers of Jesus, we are called to be and live differently in this world.
As followers of Jesus, we are called to live lives that are empowered by God’s Spirit and so show what the Jesus life is like.

We encourage you to take a few moments as you prepare to watch the video

  • settle in, be still,
  • take 2 or 3 deep breaths… in and out breathe,
  • invite the Lord to make himself present with you as you watch – he is with you – it’s just that often we are not aware that he is,
  • prepare your heart to listen and receive.
  • Read Philippians 4 as you enter into our time together.

giving

In this new way of being the church, we don’t practice giving by placing our offering in a basket as it is passed. OCCers are generous people. Thank you for your gifts.

  • Some of you give when you attend a service (there is an offering box)
  • Many give online – etransfer or paypal
  • Others mail or drop off cheques

You can find all the ways you can give here.

Praying for our City – March 21

Many nations depend on their political power, military strength, financial might, technological resources, medical advancements, and educational institutions to solve difficulties. Pray that we as a people will put our trust in God alone as our deliverer.

“This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the Lord Almighty. (Zechariah 4:6).

Praying for our City – March 20

All over Orillia and area, followers of Jesus are being challenged with circumstances that are testing their faith in God and the promises of His Word. Pray that their faith in God’s ability to do what He has said He will do on their behalf will rise

And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. (Hebrews 11:6).

Praying for our City – March 19

Pray that followers of Jesus in our city will consistently model seeking the Lord in all things and that younger generations will find strength and hope in the Lord as they too become committed to seeking Him

From one man he made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands. God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us. (Acts 17:26-27).

Praying for our City – March 18

Pray that God will give our leadership team and partners a fresh vision of genuinely becoming a praying church

“It is written,” he said to them, “‘My house will be called a house of prayer,’ but you are making it ‘a den of robbers.’”(Matthew 21:13).

Praying for our City – March 17

God is always looking for righteous intercessors who are willing to stand in the gap on behalf of their cities and their nation. Pray that more and more committed intercessors will arise from the churches of Orillia.

“I looked for someone among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found no one.” (Ezekiel 22:30).
