May 8 Praying

King David and his people rejoiced as they gave willingly for the construction of the temple. The Bible describes their hearts as wholly devoted to God (1 Chronicles 29:9). Pray that we today will experience joy as we wholeheartedly give toward God’s redemptive work.

The people rejoiced at the willing response of their leaders, for they had given freely and wholeheartedly to the Lord. David the king also rejoiced greatly. 1 Chronicles 29:9

May 7 Praying

During his old age, Solomon allowed his foreign wives to influence him to the point that “his heart was not wholly devoted to the Lord his God” (1 Kings 11:4). Pray that as the current generation of Christians grows older, they will not be influenced by the world and lose their devotion to Christ.

May 6 Praying

In Matthew 6:14-15 Jesus connects our willingness to forgive others with God’s willingness to forgive us. In order for followers of Jesus to experience the joy of being forgiven, pray that no one who has been hurt by another will harbour bitterness or resentment in their heart.

For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins. Matthew 6:14-15

May 5 Praying

Greed can quickly take root in the heart. Pray that followers of Jesus, here and around the world, will not be lovers of money, but will work to lay up treasures in heaven.

But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people. 2 Timothy 3:1-5

4 May Praying

It is impossible to experience clean hearts if we are harbouring sin and remaining unrepentant. Pray that OCCers will be quick to acknowledge their sins before the Lord and turn from what displeases Him

Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity.
I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord.”
And you forgave the guilt of my sin. Psalm 32:5

3 May Praying

As hearts are revived and sense afresh the manifest presence of God, the joy of salvation is restored. Pray that God will send the kind of revival where Christians once again are excited about sharing the gospel, and the lost are eager to meet Jesus.

Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me. Psalm 51:12

2 May Praying

Pray that OCC will continually long for the presence of God and will cry out to God, asking Him to fill every person in our congregation with the fullness of His Holy Spirit.

If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him! Luke 11:13

1 May Praying

Pray that Christians the world over will present themselves to God, trusting Him to truly create within them a clean heart.

Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Psalm 51:10

Praying for our City – March 16

Pray for fathers in our city to know and follow Jesus, modeling a love for their wives and children that reflects the type of love Jesus has for the church.

Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her (Ephesians 5:25).

Praying for our City – March 15

Pray that followers of Jesus throughout Orillia and area will seek first God’s kingdom and his righteousness before in all things.

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. (Matthew 6:33).
