Prayer – 30 September

Many people believe that their evil deeds will never be uncovered. Pray that the Spirit of God will cause people to turn from their ways and repent and receive God’s forgiveness and grace.

The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them.
Romans 1:18-19

Prayer – September 29

God is the one who brings final judgment and justice. Pray that as God’s people we would not be people who walk in fear, but people who long for and work for justice.

And I saw something else under the sun:
In the place of judgment—wickedness was there,
in the place of justice—wickedness was there.

I said to myself,
“God will bring into judgment both the righteous and the wicked,
for there will be a time for every activity, a time to judge every deed.”
Ecclesiastes 3:16-17

UP IN OUT

On Sunday we started to look at UP IN OUT.
This is based on Luke 6:12-19.
You can watch the message and get the additional resources [powerpoint slides and discussion questions] here.

One of the best ways to learn to live out the text is by getting connected to a LIFEGroup.
Currently, we are offering LIFEGroups via zoom on…

    • Wednesday @ 8pm
    • Thursday @ 7pm

We can also offer LIFEGroups on…

    • Tuesday @ 7pm
    • Thursday @ 1:30pm

To sign up, send me an email with the Group that works best for you.

If you are still not set up for zoom, we can help you… call OCC [705.329.2139] and we will help you get connected.

If you are concerned that you won’t be able to make some of the services, we have you covered

    • you can watch the whole service
    • we are also creating a short summary video that will be shown in the zoom group
    • you need no expertise in bible reading or prayer or worship to be part of a LIFEGroup
    • we want to dig in, together, to what the Scriptures say about living a life that is focused UP – IN – OUT

We would love to have you join us.

Register for Sunday 4 October

Right now, because of COVID-19, everything is different at OCC.

We are now meeting in person, Sundays at 10am.

To help us adhere to the 30% maximum capacity requirement, those who wish to attend must register either online through the link below, or by calling OCC. Registration will close Friday morning at 8 am, to give us time to set up properly. If we reach capacity, those hoping to attend will be added to a waiting list. Those on the waiting list will be given first chance at registering for the next Sunday (and will be contacted if there are any cancellations). Please plan to come a bit early to facilitate the seating process. The doors will open on Sundays, at 9:30 am for our 10am service. This week we are adding registration for OCCKids in Theatre 1 (K-Grade 5)

Prayer – September 28

Judgment is not a popular word. But it is part of what God does. We are to live in God’s holiness and grace. Pray that we, as individuals and as a church, would live the way God calls us to in his holiness and righteousness.

How much more severely do you think someone deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified them, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace? For we know him who said, “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,”  and again, “The Lord will judge his people.”
Hebrews 10:29-30

Sunday – September 27 – UP-IN-OUT 1

welcome

We can meet in our building, but we will continue to post a pre-recorded version of our service here, as well as other groups on zoom

  • There are some things we have to do (i.e. wear masks, keep physically distant)
  • and some things we can’t do (no hugs or handshakes, no coffee, no singing).
  • We are limited in the number of people that can attend – so we have a registration process set up (you can sign up with Eventbrite or call that church office).

we are glad you are here…

We trust and pray that as you read and listen that you will be blessed.
Take a few minutes as you prepare to watch the video

  • to be still
  • to be aware of the presence of the Lord with you
  • to prepare your heart to listen and receive
  • Read Psalm 102:18-22 as you enter into worship

worship & teaching

Alan & Elaine lead us in worship.
Today we begin a new series on discipleship. We are calling it UP – IN – OUT.

OCCKids will be meeting via Zoom Sunday at 9 am. You can connect with the Zoom gathering here.

LIFEGroups

One of the best ways to learn how to live out the text is to be part of a LIFEGroup. Over the next few weeks our LIFEGroups are going to be unpacking how we live UP – IN – OUT.
We will be focusing on these 3 dimensions, directions, or aspects of our walk with Christ, to help us see and grasp what God is doing and wants to do in us.

  • UP – worship
  • IN – spiritual formation and growth
  • OUT – reaching out

You can get all the information to get connected here.

Discussion questions are posted here and on the sermon page.

giving

Thank you for your generous support. You can find all the ways you can give here.

benediction

We praise and thank you Lord for this grace,
for reaching down from heaven & touching our lives.

Thank you Father
for sending your Son into the world,
not to judge the world,
but that the world might be saved.
Thank you that you know us as we are,
yet you love us.

Wherever we go this week,
may you open the eyes of our heart.
To see your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on Earth as it is in heaven.

Wherever we are today
and wherever we go this week
may we offer ourselves to you
and trust you with all our heart.
Amen

Prayer – September 27

Justice is more than a buzz word for this season. It is at the heart of God’s design. Pray for governments and the courts to do what is just.

When justice is done, it brings joy to the righteous but terror to evildoers.
Proverbs 21:15

Prayer – September 26

Confession is agreeing with God what he says about us. Pray that we would be a people who confess and because we confess we can know, experience and walk in God’s forgiveness.

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
1 John 1:9

Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.
James 5:16

Prayer – September 25

Forgiveness comes at the cost of Jesus’ shed blood. Today, give thanks to God for this indescribable gift.

In fact, the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.
Hebrews 9:22

Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!
2 Corinthians 9:15

Prayer – September 24

Life – truth – forgiveness comes through Jesus. Pray that every follower of Jesus would understand this life transforming truth and live in it.

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
John 14:6

Therefore, my friends, I want you to know that through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you.
Acts 13:36
